By Zaid Al-Sarbal (with photos) KUWAIT, Oct 28 (KUNA) — Heba Al-Kharafi of Kuwait was chosen among 500 female leaders from the Middle East to receive the Achievements Award of the Women in Leadership (WIL) forum that was recently held in Dubai, as appreciation to her efforts regarding women affairs and encouraging arts and culture.
Al-Kharafi, who is the Ambassador to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales Charities Foundation in the Middle East, received the award from Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, wife of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Meanwhile, Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia received an award for activating the role of women in leadership, while UAE’s Foreign Trade Minister Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi received the businesswoman leadership award.
Al-Kharafi said that the understanding of different cultures, religions, and civilizations became a rare thing, reducing tolerance among people.
Last June, she was the first Arab lady to receive the personal royal medal from Prince Charles of Wales.
Al-Kharafi was involved in many charitable activities related to arts like the arts exhibition and workshops of the Prince of Wales School of Traditional Arts, and the contribution in establishing traditional arts schools in Egypt, Jordan, and Abu Dhabi. (end) zz.ris KUNA 281153 Oct 09NNNN
