An uneasy silence enveloped the import cargo terminal at Cochin International Airport on Friday morning as preparations were made to receive the bodies of 31 Indians who died in a building fire in Kuwait. Ambulances were ready to transport the victims’ bodies—23 from Kerala, seven from Tamil Nadu, and one from Karnataka—to their homes. The special flight was expected to arrive around 10:30 am, according to Deputy Inspector General Putta Vimaladitya. India had dispatched a military aircraft to Kuwait to retrieve the remains of over 40 Indians killed in the fire.
