The run-up to the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) 2024 kicked off with a breakfast meeting led by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at a private hotel in the city on Friday.
Addressing the gathering comprising industry leaders, distinguished guests, and visionaries of technology, Siddaramaiah underscored the pivotal role of Bengaluru in shaping India’s technology sector and shared the state government’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to innovation and growth.
The summit scheduled between November 19 and 21, will feature discussions on the latest technological advancements and trends, with participation from industry, academia, and policymakers.
This year, a new Electro-Semicon track will be in the spotlight, highlighting the intersection of technological innovation and manufacturing prowess.
Additionally, this year, there will be an increased focus on B2B meetings, allowing delegates and companies to engage in more structured and productive sessions. Attendees can schedule meetings well in advance and connect with participants seamlessly during the event. The exciting lineup for BTS will be conveniently accessible through a dedicated Event App. The app will also provide real-time updates and personalised recommendations to enhance the overall event experience.
BTS 2024, with the theme of ‘Breaking Boundaries’, is expected to have participation from over 40 countries, with 460 speakers in over 85 sessions, 5,000 delegates, more than 500 start-ups, and 700 exhibitors.
At the breakfast meeting, Siddaramaiah highlighted the government’s recognition of the tech industry’s socio-economic impact and noted that Karnataka has recorded an impressive GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) growth rate of 14.2 per cent in Fiscal Year 2023, with a contribution of 8.2 per cent to India’s GDP.
He also outlined sector-specific policies designed to empower startups, SMEs, and large corporations, ensuring Bengaluru remains a haven for entrepreneurs.
“Karnataka was the first state to introduce such policies across various sectors including IT, AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics), Biotechnology, and ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing). Additionally, the forthcoming GCC policy is aimed at easing regulations and incentivising large companies to establish operations beyond Bengaluru areas,” Siddaramaiah said. A GCC is a dedicated offshore unit established by a company in a foreign country to in-source IT and other related business functions.
Emphasising future technological advancements, the chief minister highlighted the state’s focus on investing in AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, and Quantum Computing to maintain Karnataka’s competitive edge. He extended an invitation to industry leaders to collaborate with the government in building a robust infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a supportive regulatory framework.
