Women in Tech: Harper College

On Friday, March 8th, 2024, and on Women’s International Day, Harper College hosted
its first ever Women in Tech Event to bring awareness of the growing field of computing
careers and inspire our Highschool and College students in entering future emerging
tech academic pathways in higher education. The keynote and panel speakers consisted
of female leaders in the IT Industry. The event was a jam-packed session with over
100 students in attendance. The day proved a huge success and with a positive impact
which inspired those who attended.

• Job growth in technology is expected to grow by 30% in the next decade.
• By 2031, 4.2 million computing-related job openings are expected in the U.S. By some
  estimates, the U.S. will be able to fill only 25% of new computing jobs based on the
  current rates of degree completion in this field.
• Only 27% of professional computer jobs in the U.S. are held by women. Your knowledge
  and strong, positive mindset are needed to change and shape our global community.
