Register as mentor or mentee: UvA mentoring programme 2023
Mentor
Share your knowledge: become a mentor in the Talent Mentoring Programme.
Do you want to share your knowledge and experience of working at the UvA with a colleague? Help them with a (career)question? And learn from the experiences of someone at another department? Sign up as a mentor for the Talent Mentoring Programme. As a mentor, you will help a mentee with their professional development in 5 or 6 sessions between October 2023 and June 2024.
The Talent Mentoring Programme offers mentees an opportunity to discuss their (career)choices with a mentor. As a mentor, you can help a mentee with challenges and questions they may have while working in our scientific environment.
This mentoring programme is part of the UvA Diversity Policy, through which the university aims to support groups underrepresented in high(er) positions in their career development.
Share experience from your role
We need you to create another successful edition of this programme. You can be a mentor as a department head, professor, associate professor, senior advisor or supervisor. The mentee is never a direct colleague, so you can both discuss your ideas freely.
Sign up as a mentor
Are you interested in helping others develop? And can you spend 2 hours on this programme between October 2023 and June 2024? Then sign up as a mentor by September 17, 2023 at the latest.
Mark 19 October in your calendar
On October 19th, the mentoring programme will kick-off with an event. Together with the other mentors and mentees, you will attend a short training to prepare for the programme. There will also be time to meet each other. Participation isn’t obligatory, but we greatly appreciate it if you can attend. So, please mark this event in your calendar when you register. You will receive the official invitation when all mentors and mentees have been matched.
For questions, please contact mentorprogramma@uva.nl.
Ready to discuss your career choices with an experienced mentor? Sign up!
Are you looking for a way to enhance your professional development? Would you like to discuss your challenges with an experienced colleague from another department within the UvA? And do you have an academic function (professors exempt) or a support and management staff function in scale 9 to 12? Then register by September 17, 2023 at the latest for the third edition of the Talent Mentoring Programme.
The Talent Mentoring Programme is an opportunity for you as a mentee to think about choices you can make in your career. You can discuss your dilemmas and questions about working in our scientific environment with an experienced mentor in 5 or 6 sessions between October 2023 and June 2024.
Diversity of backgrounds
This mentoring programme is part of the UvA Diversity Policy, through which the university aims to support groups underrepresented in high(er) positions in their career development. Therefore, if more people apply than the number of places available, individuals from these groups will be given priority for this programme.
Your career question
Would you like to sign up as a mentee? Think about what (career)question you would like to discuss with your mentor beforehand. That way, we can match you with the right person. Your mentor won’t be a direct colleague or supervisor, so you can talk about both professional and individual choices in a safe environment. In this programme, you’ll be given the opportunity to coordinate and schedule conversations with your mentor. You can apply until 17 September.
