Grassroots leaders, activists are lifeline of AL: Hasan

CHATTOGRAM, March 29, 2022 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the grassroots leaders and activists are the lifeline of Bangladesh Awami League (AL).

Terming grassroots leaders and activists made the party strongest for ages Dr Hasan said grassroots leaders are not confused regarding the leadership.

They never left the original leadership of the AL, said Hasan, also Joint General Secretary of the Bangladesh AL.

Dr Hasan was addressing as the chief guest at the triennial conference of Rangunia Municipality unit of AL.

Rangunia Municipality AL President Master Aslam Khan presided over the function while its General Secretary Mohammad Selim conducted it.

AL leaders Bedarul Alam Chowdhury Bedar, Akhter Hossain Khan, Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder, Nilufa Akhter, Ayub Rana, Shamsuddoha Sikder Arju, Morshed Talukder, Nasir Uddin Riaz and Md. Rasu, among others, addressed the function.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud said everyone wants to get on the boat of Awami League now as the party is staying in the state power.

“A boat doesn’t always have to carry excessive people. If excessive people get-up on boat, it faces danger,” he said.

He said those who want to come to AL to protect illicit wealth, they don’t need them in AL.

“Those who believe in the ideology of Bangabandhu and the leadership of the Jananetri Sheikh Hasina, they can definitely come to AL. But those who want to grasp others’ land and make drug trading, they aren’t needed in our party,” he added.

Hasan Mahmud also joined as the chief guest an outdoor programme on children’s and women’s development organized by Bangladesh Betar on the premises of Shilpakala Academy at Rangunia Upazila in the evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that the way Bangladesh has progressed in the field of women’s development and women’s progress is a unique example for the whole world.

“Many leaders thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the development of the country and the development of women. Because, women constitute half of the total population of the country,” he added.

He said Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put much importance on the development of women and children.

Ansar Ali presided over the outdoor event while Ahmed Kamruzzaman, Director General of Bangladesh Betar, Rangunia Upazila Chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder and UNO Iftekhar Yunus, among others, addressed the function as special guests.
