Earth Day: Tips for living a more sustainable life
Is there a better way to celebrate Earth Day than learning ways to help the environment? The Natural Resources Defense Council spoke with FOX33 to share a few, simple, eco-friendly steps to implement into your daily routine.
- Switch to bar soap – According to Ashley Jordan with the NRDC, bar soap uses less packaging in comparison to liquid soap. She also added that it is lighter to transport and takes less water to produce.
- Change your light bulbs – If your bathroom vanity uses incandescent bulbs, you can maximize energy efficiency by swapping them for LED bulbs, which can use up to 90 percent less energy.
- Add bidet attachment to toilet – Not only will this decrease toilet paper usage, it also requires less water than the tissue-making process requires. However, if a bidet is not for you, they recommend switching out your toilet paper for a brand made from recycled content. The NRDC even has their own “scorecard” where they grade toilet paper brands on sustainability.
