Celebrate International Women’s Day 2024 At These Perth Events

International Women’s Day is quickly approaching on Friday 8 March, with the 2024 theme of #InspireInclusion more relevant than ever before. The theme of forging gender equality resonates powerfully, as we work towards a world where bias and discrimination are relics of the past, and diversity is celebrated. 

This year’s events will not only shine a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of women but also serve as a beacon of hope, igniting conversations about driving forward the crucial agenda of gender parity. Skip the arbitrary cupcakes, we’ve rounded up a few things you can do around Perth this International Women’s Day.

Crooked Images Nude Photoshoot for International Women’s Day

Perth CBD | Friday 8 March

Every year since 2018, artist Lauren Crooke (Crooked Images) has coordinated mass nude photoshoots for International Women’s Day to boost awareness and advocate for women’s body rights. This year she’s aiming to gather 100 incredible women together at sunrise in Perth CBD (location TBC) for her most ambitious shoot yet. Registrations are still open if you’d like to get involved. UNAA WA International Women’s Day Breakfast

Central Park Conference Centre, Perth CBD | Friday 8 March

The WA division of the United Nations Association Australia is hosting a whole morning of insightful conversations around gender equality for International Women’s Day 2024. Senator Fatima Payman—the first hijab-wearing woman to be elected to the Australian Parliament and the youngest member of the 47th Parliament—will present the keynote, with further panel talks to follow. All proceeds go towards supporting UNAA WA’s Gender Equality Committee’s work to uplift women and girls.

Mix Haus All-Female Bar Takeover

Si Paradiso, Highgate | Sunday 10 March

Founded by women for women, the crew at Mix Haus champion women in hospitality day-in, day-out, but they couldn’t pass up an opportunity to throw a few drinks on for the girls. Drop by Si Paradiso Sunday 10 March from 4pm to get in on the raffle, drink specials and good times. With part proceeds pouring right back into Mix Haus, each drink is helping support women in hospitality.

Women’s Day DJ Lesson 

Toots, Northbridge | Thursday 14 March

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to DJ but haven’t felt comfortable jumping into this traditionally male-dominated space, take note of this IWD DJ Workshop at Toots. Led by local DJ queen, DJ Fadj, this three-hour, all-female session will teach you all the basics for mixing like a pro, with a drink on arrival and shared bites included in your ticket.

Business Chicks International Women’s Day Breakfast

The Westin, Perth CBD | Thursday 14 March

Business Chicks are well known for hosting some of the Gold Coast’s best female-focused events and this International Women’s Day event is certainly no different. In the teams’ words, “IWD is when we hear stories—sometimes uplifting, sometimes heartbreaking, always powerful—from extraordinary women.” And they’re certainly fitting that brief with three incredible female speakers headlining this event.
