As a certified financial planner and host of the “Future Rich” podcast, Barbara Ginty has dispensed plenty of invaluable money advice for women who want to achieve goals ranging from buying a home to saving for retirement.
While there is no one-size-fits-all financial advice, there are some general rules of thumb that Ginty — who is one of Money’s Most Influential Women of 2024 — believes everyone can benefit from.
Here are her top pieces of money advice.
Improve Your Financial Literacy
Ginty believes that every person should take the time to learn about personal finance.
“Your money will never be as important to anyone else as it is to you,” she told GOBankingRates. “You should make understanding personal finance a priority.”
Consistency Is Key
If your goal is to build savings, it’s important to be consistent — no matter what spending temptations you may encounter.
“Consistent disciplined saving always wins,” Ginty said. “Start young, save a lot, and don’t let current temptations sabotage your future wealth.”
Be Willing To Make Sacrifices
When it comes to building wealth, “there is no magic bullet,” Ginty said. “Building wealth takes time and requires sacrifice. Spend less than you make and save more than you should.”
